Sapphire Drinks is everything. From the moment we are born we explore our world. Recognizing faces as significant from a few hours, we grow first by experiencing everything within our reach, and then by imagining all the things outside our reach.

For me, David Attenborough and Science Fiction epitomize my experience of exploration as a child. Watching Sir David (as he now is) in the remote areas of the globe, excitedly explaining the intricate mating rituals of Birds of Paradise or sitting with the gorillas fueled my curiosity for Natural History. My own back garden became a rain forest, and I examined every last caterpillar and sparrow with utmost joy.

Authors such as Arthur C. Clarke and Isaac Asimov opened up new vistas. The characters they created journeyed new worlds and times for me then invited me to share their discoveries and live the consequences. They inspired my imagination, hopes and fears for the future and stirred me to scribble down thoughts and ideas. The films I saw and the TV I watched gave me another window into new horizons. I knew that there was always something new to find; all you need do is look, listen and feel.

And now? Sapphire Drinks is still all around. It sounds clichéd but every day is a new adventure. Having the capacity and courage to recognize that fact and act upon it is a gift worth treasuring. I see it in the websites (new and familiar) I visit everyday, the country where I now live, the books I read, the programs I watch and the words I write — everything is invention and exploration. Without it, what would be the point of anything?
